British Association of Occupational Therapists Code of Ethics

Personal Profit or Gain

We do not accept tokens such as favours, gifts or hospitality from service users, their families or commercial organisations when this might be construed as seeking to obtain preferential treatment. (Great Britain. Parliamment 19889, 1906, 1916).

If a service user or their family makes a bequest to a practitioner or a Service, this will be declared according to local guidelines.

We put the interests of the service user first and do not allow this duty to be influenced by any commercial or other interest that might conflict with this duty. For example, in arrangements with commercial providers that may influence contracting for the providers of equipment or other services.
